BiographyDr. Ravisankar has been contributing in the field of application of remote sensing and GIS for more than 25 years in the areas of agriculture, soils, land degradation, watersheds and rural development. He has spearheaded National level fine grained 1:50K products on LULC, Land Degradation, and Wastelands using satellite data that are widely used by stakeholders across the country. He is responsible for the R&D projects at group level on soil fertility, soil health, land degradation neutrality, digital soil mapping, soil carbon related studies, application of hyperspectral RS in soils study etc. He has also contributed widely in providing geospatial solutions for flagship Pan India programmes viz., Monitoring and evaluation of Integrated Watershed Management programmes (IWMP; Srishti-Drishti), geotagging of rural assets and planning of assets in rural development in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) and Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) of the Government of India. With his passion and vision towards aptly using RS/GIS for societal applications continue to motivate his team to take up new challenges.
