The Indian Society of Remote Sensing, in its endeavour towards recognition of eminent scientist for their outstanding contributions in the field of remote sensing and allied areas has instituted the 'Bhaskara Award' to recognize outstanding life-time contributions in promoting remote sensing activities in the country. The scientific contributions could be in: the Development of innovative and critical technology, New designs and system concepts, Image processing, Operationalizing remote sensing applications, Promotion and popularizing the technology.

The P. R. Pisharoty Memorial Award (formerly Indian National Remote Sensing Award) has been instituted by ISRS to be given each year for significant contributions in the field of remote sensing by individuals. The contributions made should have a significant impact in the application of remote sensing. The areas of contribution which are considered for the award include: Remote sensing platforms and payloads, Remote sensing data reception, processing, dissemination and interpretation, Remote sensing applications including software and hardware development, System engineering and management in the field of remote sensing
The award is of the value of Rs. 50,000/- in cash, a citation, and a medal.
This award will be given to a member of the society, who has made noteworthy contribution to the growth of the society (its main body or any chapter).

Young Achiever Award has been instituted by Indian Society of Remote Sensing to recognize and promote innovative contribution in the field of remote sensing and geo-spatial science, technology and applications made by young scientists in the country. The main purpose of the award is to provide an opportunity to young scientists to interact with experts and specialists in these fields during the ISPRS Congress. The award shall be given every four years to participate in the ISPRS Congress.
The award shall consist of a certificate and grant up to Rs. 80,000 for travel and subsistence allowances.
ISRS-Symposium Best Paper Awards are given for two best paper presentations at the annual symposium of the ISRS every year.

ISRS-Symposium Student Paper Awards, are awarded to the best paper presentation by a student (including research fellows) at the annual symposium of the ISRS and consists of a cash award of Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 1000 for first and second best papers respectively, reimbursement of registration fee and AC III Tier railway fare. For consideration of student's award, the student should be the single or first author of the paper.
