Overview

The geospatial industry plays a crucial role in mapping, analyzing, and understanding our world. As the demand for geospatial services surges due to expanding technological applications and global challenges, the requirement for an expanded and diverse workforce becomes even more pronounced. Current trends indicate a growing need for increased manpower to effectively address evolving challenges and complexities, underlining the urgency to bolster DEI efforts. This is not only a matter of principle but a strategic imperative to harness a broader range of talents and perspectives, ultimately propelling the industry to new heights.

According to a survey conducted by Women in Geospatial+ (2021), women comprise only 25% of the global geospatial workforce. This underrepresentation limits diversity of perspectives and hinders the industry's potential for innovation and growth. There is a pressing need to enhance ethnic and cultural diversity within the geospatial industry. Diverse teams have been proven to drive better decision-making, creativity, and problem-solving. However, currently, representation of minority groups in the geospatial workforce remains inadequate, with limited opportunities for underrepresented communities to engage and contribute effectively.

At Geospatial World, we are dedicated towards our commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across all facets of our industry. We firmly believe that fostering innovation and creativity in geospatial technology demands a diverse and inclusive community. An essential aspect of DEI is the representation of women in the workforce.

As part of our dedication to these principles, GeoSmart India 2023 is hosting a Women in Geospatial Networking Session. We invite all the extraordinary women to join us in a unique gathering, where we can collectively celebrate your achievements, address the challenges you've conquered, and share the invaluable experiences that have fueled your remarkable journeys. We believe in the power of your stories, the wisdom you've gained, and the paths you've paved. Together, we can forge a new direction that not only empowers women in geospatial but propels the entire industry to greater heights.

Sign the Geospatial World’s DEI pledge and be a driving force in shaping a more inclusive future for the geospatial industry!
