Shri Pradeep Singh, who joined GSI in 1994, has made significant contributions to engineering geological investigations across India. He was associated with geological investigations of Sorang, Kasang, Tidong, Thopan-Powari & Songtong-Karcham HE projects in H.P. He played a crucial role in resolving post- construction seepage issues at Ranjit Sagar Dam and he was also involved with construction stage investigations, foundation mapping and treatment at Patiary, Thana, and Nara dam projects in Punjab.
At the GSI Field Training Institute, he trained new officers in engineering and Himalayan geology. Subsequently he was posted at EPE division at DGCO, New Delhi where, as an Engineering Geology expert, he was engaged in geological and geotechnical appraisals of mega hydropower projects located in India, Nepal and Bhutan. At the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET), he accelerated mineral exploration activities. He has authored over 47 geotechnical reports and contributed to significant reforms in the mineral sector as Director (Tech) in the Ministry of Mines. Presently, Sh. Pradeep Singh is holding the prestigious position of NMH1A, DDG, IT in GSI. He is also the chairman of the Technical & Cost Committee (TCC-II) of the National Mineral Exploration Trust.
Asit Saha

Geological Survey of India GoI
Shri. Asit Saha took charge as the 53rd Director General of the Geological Survey of India on July 27, 2024. A Gold Medalist with an M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Calcutta, he joined GSI in 1992. Saha's expertise spans Geoinformatics, Mineral Exploration, and Geochemical Mapping. He played a pivotal role in the GSI-BRGM project and the development of the Online Core Business Integrated System (OCBIS).
He actively participated in conceptualization, documentation, implementation and rollout of the state-of-the- art Online Core Business Integrated System (OCBIS) in GSI, as a logical and much needed upgrade of GSI digital infrastructure. He is a GIS analyst and domain expert in Project Geoinformatics. Shri Asit Saha has been instrumental in policy support and planning at GSI, earning numerous accolades, including the National e-Governance Silver Award and the e-World Award in 2011, member of PDAC 2010 delegation, Best Practice survey study team in Australian Geological Surveys 2011 and Lead Member of consultant team for geospatial infrastructure development for Saudi Geological Survey (2013-14). He has published papers in various National / International journals in addition to participations in various National / International Conferences. His leadership and innovative contributions have significantly advanced GSI's mission.
Basab Mukhopadhyay

Shri Basab Mukhopadhyay completed his post-graduation in Applied Geology and Mineral Exploration from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, earning a gold medal in 1991. He joined the GSI as a Junior Geologist in 1993 and has worked in mineral exploration, geological mapping, earthquake geology, seismotectonics, and digital network development and portal of GSI, geoscientific database creation and dissemination of scientific data through web map services in OCBIS portal, and map compilation in different official capacities.
Currently, he is the National Mission Head III, GSI. He has published nearly 80 papers on Mineral exploration, GIS modeling, structural geology, neotectonics, earthquake geology and seismotectonic, and integration of geological and geophysical data pertaining to different geological terrains in India and Saudi Arabia.

Bhupender Singh Negi

Shri. Bhupender Singh Negi is presently posted in MIVA, GSI, CHQ Kolkata. He has joined GSI in the year 2002 in the Karnataka and Goa circle, Bangalore. He has carried out specialized thematic mapping and mineral investigation projects and subsequently worked in SU: Uttarakhand Dehradun in various Mission-IV projects such as landslide investigations, Engineering Geology projects and worked extensively in Himalaya terrains. He is actively engaged in the prestigious project of GSI i.e, National Landslide Forecasting Centre (NLFC), which plays a significant role from a societal perspective.
