BiographyProf. Shanmugam has acquired tacit knowledge in the area of remote sensing techniques (optical, thermal and microwave), algorithm development and radiative transfer modelling. He has completed a number of national and international projects in the above areas. Based on his contributions to the advancement of marine remote sensing technology, Prof. Shanmugam has been awarded National Geospatial Chair Professorship of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
