General Ravi Shankar

BiographyLt. Gen S Ravi Shankar, an Alumnus of the National Defence Academy, was commissioned into the Madras Sappers (Corps of Engineers) in Mar. 1972.
He retired as the Director General Border Roads, with wide experience in planning and execution of infrastructure Projects, including roads & highways in challenging terrain; working under extreme conditions such as on the Siachen Glacier; operatioing in hostile conditions including the UN Mission in Somalia; and rehabilitation after major disasters such as the earthquake in Sikkim in 2011, where roads were opened in record time. He was awarded the PVSM during his tenure with the Border Roads.
Currently as President in ICT, New Delhi, an Infra consultancy company with an international foot-print, he is overseeing various Infra projects as also facilitating a number of new technologies to be introduced, including New Generation Quick Launch Bridges. He was instrumental in planning and launch of the first bridge of this kind in India, in record time which, enabled the Yatra to Kedarnath, in Uttarakhand to commence on time, in 2015.
As a Military Engineer, Mapping and Survey have been important fields of work in his professional career as also the technologies associated with it to include GIS and Geospatial applications.
