Dr. K.K Singh
BiographyDr. K K Singh is a leading Agro-meteorologist in the country. He did his post graduation in Geophysics in 1983 and Ph.D. on Crop yield forecasting in 1988 from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi India.
He joined Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India (GOI) in 1990 and has immensely contributed in the Establishment and Development of operational agriculture weather forecasting and Agrometeorological Advisory Service (AAS) system in the country. Currently his division with help of ICAR is implementing expansion of AAS network to district level at KVK to provide agrometeteorological services at block level. He worked in the field of application of modern tools like Dynamic crop simulation models, Decision Support System for resilient farming, Remote sensing and GIS etc. in agriculture risk management under changing climate. He made a synergistic effort to evolve capacity building for HRD in these domains including development and support of the Climate Risk Management and DRR Tool and strong agromet Database, and Technology Transfer at district level.
He has supervised M.Sc. and Ph. D. scholars from different universities and IITs. He has ~ 85 research papers to his credit published in peer reviewed national and international journals.
He is associated with a number of International and GOI funded project in the field of extended/ seasonal climate forecast, agromet product development using satellite data, operational crop yield forecasting, strengthening ICT based bulletin generation and dissemination system to reach out to rural communities leading to food security and sustainable rural livelihood security. He is also expert member of many high profile committees in Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, to guide the flagship Govt. programmes.
